Transformative therapeutic and psychoeducation services with Rebel shift childhood.

When you work with me, you can expect personalized, carefully curated support, neurologically supportive care, and a trauma-informed and a trauma-sensitive approach. I offer practical solutions to challenging behavioral patterns in both children and adults, and my method reframes challenging behaviors and represents a paradigm shift by analyzing the root causes of negative, confusing and disruptive behavior.

In my sessions, I take a co-creative approach that will aid clients in gaining a deeper understanding of how unmet emotional needs lead to unsatisfying relationships. I also highlight the ways in which real-world stressors can hijack our relationships and I offer solutions that help clients heal from the past and create a brighter future. I am honored to work in tandem with other therapists and specialists to support clients on a robust healing journey.

I honor the need for inclusive, cutting-edge therapeutic and psychoeducation services. I am highly skilled at encouraging my clients to embrace self-expression. I cultivate a non-judgmental atmosphere in my sessions which allows my clients to heal their relationship to self and others. Together we will make sense of toxic cultural expectations and reframe behavior so we can expand our capacity; ultimately cultivating more joy and creating authentic relationships with ourselves and the important people in our lives.

Testimonials

Emily came into my life after one of the worst mornings in a long time with my high needs kiddo. A fellow mom in the drop off line witnessed the emotional distress in the scene, offered a hug, and recommended Emily. That was almost a year ago and I had no idea parenting could be this good. Emily comes into every appointment with expertise, compassion, and perspective. I struggled for years with so many different parenting methodologies that I couldn’t make work. Emily hasn’t given me another methodology but instead a framework for relationship. Now, I have different insight and tools for engaging with and loving both of my children . Parenting is still hard, always will be, but thanks to Emily the hard is less often, less intense, and easier to work through. I cannot recommend her enough!

Before we met Emily, our family was in survival mode. She has a special gift for understanding what truly helps a neurodivergent family, and because of her support, we’ve been able to move from just getting by to really thriving. We’re so grateful for everything Emily has done for us.

Working with Emily is amazing because she helps me see my blindspots, and gives me direction to move forward.
I have worked with great therapists that have helped me see things and helped grow— Emily goes further by helping me see how the things I have worked on/am working on are playing out with my kids.
She is gentle and strong, brilliant and human. She isn’t just understanding, she gets to the kernel of the truth that matters the most.”

“I sought the services of Rebel Shift Childhood after my three year old was suspended from preschool for hitting. As a queer and trans first time parent, I was scared, confused, overwhelmed and definitely feeling lots of guilt. Emily met me with such sweetness, validation and encouragement. Not only did she provide digestible info on the actual brain science of what was developmentally appropriate behavior but also tangible and accessible tools to support me and my child through big feelings. She advocated for us at my child’s school and helped me brainstorm backup plans with solid recommendations. I believe in her approach and her work so deeply. The childism that is so embedded in our society, that says children don’t deserve the same respect, autonomy and compassion as adults, is what Emily breaks down in every session, every conversation with educators, every phone call and will literally make this world a better, more equitable place. Emily is fierce, passionate, playful and so attuned to the needs of children and caretakers. If you have young people in your life, especially if you love young people who do not fit into tidy, conforming, compliant boxes (or as Emily calls them “spicy meatball” kids 😉), working with Emily/RSC can greatly support in building the skills and the framework needed to nurture connection and raise children prepared for the future we’re all fighting for.”

Emily has been incredibly helpful for us as parents of one neurodivergent child and one neurotypical child. Her guidance on managing family conflicts, setting boundaries, and understanding how our individual upbringing impacts our relationships with our children has helped our family grow closer and have a better road map for success. Emily is easy to discuss issues with, does not show any judgement in regards parenting decisions, and helps explain the reasoning and rational for how to handle difficult situations. Our family has made significant progress since we began working with Emily, and everyone in our family is happier and set up for success due to her efforts.
